marriage- "man and wife"
Today I was watching "Mamma Mia" and I realized during the wedding ceremony, the priest or pastor said "I now pronounce you man and wife." Now this got me thinking; man and wife. Shouldn't either be man and woman or husband and wife. In this phrase it says "men own their wife, that is why the men can keep 'man', yet woman have to be stuck with 'wife.' Isn't a wedding suppose to bring the groom and wife together, not separate them. When searching this at home, I came up with nothing or at least it seemed so. This goes back to the men are the top of all things and woman have to obey them and be helpless objects of property. I think that there should be some kind of change. Even though "man and wife" is traditional, it is not right. I also think this may be the a symbol for something. That men still get some more rights than women and women are sometimes just objects or property to men who can flaunt women all they want.
